KHUJAND, November 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Sughd customs service have warded off an attempt of illegal transportation of more than 4,000 tons of raw cotton to Kyrgyzstan.

According to the Sughd customs service, a heavy truck KAMAZ was stopped for customs control in the Qistaquz jamoat, Bobojonghafurov district on November 22.  “The truck provided to be loaded with more than 4,000 tons of raw cotton without proper accompanying forms,” said the source, “They were going to illegally transport the cotton to neighboring Kyrgyzstan.”

Case has been instituted under the provisions of Article 577 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code.
