DUSHANBE, December 7, 2009, Asia-Plus — 14 issues have been tabled to the agenda of the 7th session of the Tajik-Kazakh intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation that will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan on December 9.
According to the State Committee for Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), the meeting aims to consider issues related to further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in sector like agriculture, migration, transport and communications.
Bilateral energy cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan is expected to be among major topics of the meeting.
The source noted that a preparatory meeting of working groups of the two countries would be held on December 8.
The Tajik-Kazakh economic commission is co-chaired by Tajik GosKomInvest head Davlatali Saidov and Kazakh Minister for Environmental Protection Nurgali Ashimov.
According to the State Committee for Statistics, trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in January-October 2009 has amounted to some 228.715 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Kazakhstan estimated at some US$12.83 million and Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan worth US$215.885 million.
