DUSHANBE, January 5, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Social-Democratic Party (SDPT) leader Rahmatillo Zoirov plans to run in February’s election to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) in single-mandate constituency # 4 (Dushanbe’s Sino district), Asia-Plus has learned at the SDPT head office in Dushanbe.

“In late November 2009 already, Zoirov offered leaders of political parties to nominate themselves for election to the parliament in single-mandate constituencies in order to ensure transparency and development of political competition during the parliamentary elections,” the source said.

According to him, the SDPT primary organization in Dushanbe’s Sino district will hold the conference to nominate Rahmatillo Zoirov for election on January 7.

“The SDPT organization in the Sino district numbers 820 members,” the source said, noting that members of the electoral commission for single-mandate constituency # 4 have been invited to attend the conference.
