DUSHANBE, January 21, 2010, Asia-Plus — A drug peddler was arrested at the Dushanbe airport on January 20.

According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press service, a 24-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Bokhtar district, G.S., was detained during inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Moscow flight on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.

He was going to travel to Moscow with drugs in his stomach. The peddler had ingested 80 wraps of narcotic drug that was tested positive to heroin weighing 464 grams.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the drug peddler and an investigation is under way, the DCA press service said.
