DUSHANBE, January 27, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade expects the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) to rise 5 percent in the year to December 31, 2010.

Minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev told reporters in Dushanbe on January 27 that the country’s GDP rose 3.4 percent in the year to December 31, 2009, reaching 20.6228 billion somoni.

According to the minister, inflation in consumer sector for 2010 will stand at not more than 9 percent.

Hamraliyev noted that industrial production would increase by 3 percent by the end of 2010.  He added that agricultural output production would also increase this year.

“Negative impact of the global financial crisis will be felt in Tajikistan this year as well,” said the minister, “It is planned that implementation of anti-crisis measures will start in the coming two years.”

He noted that the country’s budgetary and monetary policy would be aimed at supporting sustainability of the national currency.
