KHUJAND, February 19, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Administration of the Sughd province has decided to allocate 100,000 somoni from local budget for purchase of training parachutes for the flying club at local public association, Organization of Assistance to Defense.

The source at the Sughd Organization of Assistance to Defense told Asia-Plus today that they are currently conducting negotiations on purchasing the training parachutes in China or the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  After that a tender for delivering them to the province will be announced.

According to him, the Sughd administration has also allocated 20,000 somoni for renovation of the flying club’s building.  The flying club is located in the city of Chkalovsk. 

The club has a single-engine biplane utility, AN-2, which is used as parachute drop aircraft and several sport parachute instructors now work with the club, the source added.
