Main Navrouz celebrations take place in Danghara this year

DUSHANBE, March 19, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Today morning, President Emomali Rahmon and visiting Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov traveled to Tajik president’s native town of Danghara in Khatlon province to celebrate the Navrouz Holiday there.

This year, the country’s main celebrations to mark the Navrouz Holiday are being held today in the Danghara district.  Senior representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations active in Tajikistan have also been invited to attend Navrouz celebrations in Danghara.

Theatrical show dedicated to Navrouz will take place at the Danghara stadium today.

Various spots activities are also organized in Danghara on occasion of the Navrouz festival.  Horse racing and Buzkashi (goat grabbing) are taking place in Danghara today.  Besides, a two-day republican gushtingiri (Tajik national wrestling) competition dedicated to the Navrouz Holiday kicked off in Danghara yesterday.  16 teams from all regions of the country have gathered in Danghara for the gushtingiri competition.

A number of new facilities, including choikhona (teahouse), building of Orienbonk’s branch, brickworks, shopping center, two five-story apartment buildings and renovated Danghara Central Park, are being inaugurated in the district today.
