DUSHANBE, April 16, 2010, Asia-Plus — Tajik national TV channels are expected to be shifted to the digital broadcasting soon.
Asadullo Rahmonov, chairman of the Committee for TV ad Radio-broadcasting, told reporters in Dushanbe on April 16 that a new digital broadcast transmitter has been installed at the Tajik TV mast in Dushanbe and it will be introduced into operation within the next few days.
On the dispute be between Tajik V and radio company, Simoi Mustaqili Tojikiston (SMT), and TV studio at Russian military base in Tajikistan re-broadcasting programs of Russia’s TV channel, ORT (Channel One), Rahmonov said that the dispute should be settled in favor of SMT because under the agreement between the governments of Tajikistan and Russia, the TV Studio 201 should re-broadcast ORT programs only within compound of the Russian military base.
On the opening of the Persian-language TV station, Rahmonov said that it had been postponed. “The joint Tajik-Afghan-Iranian TV station’s first program was expected to be aired on the Navrouz Holiday (March 21-23) but it was postponed,” he said. According to him representatives of Afghanistan did not participate at the last two meetings.
We will recall that in 2006, leaders of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan met in Dushanbe and agreed to establish a joint TV channel. According to sources, the agreement’s implementation has been postponed due to some reservations expressed by Afghan officials.
