DUSHANBE, April 27, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Representatives from ten companies intending to participate in a tender for carrying out techno-economic and environmental and social studies for the Roghun hydroelectricity project arrived in Dushanbe on April 26 for a two-day visit, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

Ms. Tojinisso Azizova, a spokeswoman for a MoEI, says they arrived in Dushanbe to lodge applications for participation in the tender.  “On Monday, they met with senior representatives from the MoEI to discuss issues related to holding the tender and carrying out the assessment studies,” said Azizova, “On Tuesday, representatives of the companies, representatives  of the World Bank and senior representatives from the MoEI visited the site for construction of the Roghun HPP.”

We will recall that Deputy Energy and Industries Minister, Poulod Muhididnov, noted on April 23 that the tender will take place in late May or early June this year.

According to him, the following companies and consortiums were selected to participate in the tender for carrying out techno-economic assessment: WS Atkins (U.K.);  consortium of three companies – ELC-Electroconsult (Italy) – Coyne et Bellier (France) – IPA Energy Water Consulting (U.K.); SNC Lavalin Group Inc. (Canada); Mott Mac Donald (U.K.) jointly with Temelsu International Engineering Services Inc. (Turkey); Nippon Koei Co Ltd. (Japan); and consortium EDF (France)–Fichtner (Germany)–Stocky Engineering (Switzerland).  “Foster Wheeler/Battler (the United States), Golder Associates Ltd (Japan), Sterling International Group Inc (the United States) and Poyry Energy Ltd (Switzerland) will participate in the tender for carrying out environmental and social studies,” the deputy minister said.
