DUSHANBE, April 27, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi who is currently on an official visit to China held a number of meetings in Beijing yesterday, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

During his meeting with Mr. Li Bayntzyayu (phonetically spelled), director general of the Chinese Company Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., Ltd. (TBEA), Zarifi expressed gratitude for construction of the South-North power grid in Tajikistan.

The Tajik foreign minister stressed that the government of Tajikistan considered the company a reliable partner and expressed confidence that the government of Tajikistan and TBEA would continue mutually beneficial cooperation in the future as well.

Yesterday, Zarifi also held talks with Muratbek Imanaliyev, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).  The sides discussed issues related to cooperation within the Organization as well as the latest developments in Kyrgyzstan.

In this connection, Zarifi noted that the events in Kyrgyzstan were internal affairs and expressed hope that the situation in Kyrgyzstan would be settled without external interference.

On April 26, Zarifi also met with  a group of Tajik students studying in China.
