DUSHANBE, May 17, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday May 15, Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov presented the breastplate “High Achiever in Education” to more than 20 local entrepreneurs for their contributions to development of education in the country.

Abdujabbor Rahmonov met with representatives of Tajik business community on Saturday.  According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), more than 130 entrepreneurs from all regions of the country attended the meeting.  “The main objective of the meeting was in involving local entrepreneurs in constructing education facilities in the country and providing schools with necessary equipment,” the source at a MoI said.

Entrepreneurs that made contribution to development of the country’s education system and funded construction of schools in the regions attended the meeting that was dedicated to the declaration of 2010 the Year of Education and Technical Culture in Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the entrepreneurs, in particular, brought the issue of collection of taxes and customs duties to Rahmonov’s attention.  The minister promised to help resolve the issue.

In 2009 alone, local entrepreneurs funded construction of 22 schools to accommodate a total of 4,600 pupils, the source added.
