DUSHANBE, May 18, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The 37th Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Member States is opening in Dushanbe today.

More than 80 delegations from the OIC member nations, observer countries as well as international and regional organizations have arrived in the Tajik capital to attend the meeting that runs through May 20.

The 37th CFM is expected to discuss political and economic issues as well as problems of fighting international terrorism.  President Emomali Rahmon will address the 37th Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States.

Tajikistan joined the Organization of the Islamic Conference in 1992.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is an international organization with a permanent delegation to the United Nations.  It groups 57 member states, from the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Caucasus, Balkans, Southeast Asia, South Asia and South America (Guyana and Suriname).  These States decided to pool their resources together, combine their efforts and speak with one voice to safeguard the interest and ensure the progress and well-being of their peoples and those of other Muslims in the world.
