DUSHANBE. May 26. “Asia-Plus” — Canadian “Canog Energy Inc.” is planning to study an opportunity of cooperation and investing into Tajikistan’s economy, namely, into the construction of hydropower plants, oil and gas, precious stones and nonferrous materials production, the Tajik Chamber of Commerce told the AP.  

According to the source, yesterday chairman of the chamber met with the president of the Canadian company Steward Squaers and executive director of the company Lial Owbin.  

The sides have discussed trade and economic relations between the two countries and talked about investment opportunities. “Having studied investment projects and attractiveness of Tajikistan’s investment policy President of the Canadian company expressed his intention to study the opportunity of cooperation with Tajikistan in the field of construction of hydropower plants, oil and gas production, production of precious stones and nonferrous metals and an opportunity of investing funds into these fields,” the source has said.

The sides have also agreed to conduct another meeting to discuss the details and priority directions of cooperation. Furthermore, heads of the Canadian company are planning to meet with Tajik economy and trade officials, energy and industry officials, representatives of the Tajik State Committee for Investments, Tajik Department of Geology and representatives of Barqi Tojik.
