Khorog. June 23. “Asia-Plus” — Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on his trip to the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO), arrived this morning to Vanj region of GBAO. President Rahmon’s trip is connected with celebration of the National Unity Day and will last till June 28.
Upon his arrival to Vanj region, President Rahmon observed the ongoing construction of new houses for local citizens affected by the January earthquake which occurred in Surkhsangov place, Head of the Vanj region Governor’s Office Zieratsho Pirov told the AP. Currently, more than 160 new houses are being erected in the region, he said.
According to Pirov, head of state handed keys to new houses to two families. Two other houses will be commissioned during celebration of the National Unity Day.
Following his trip to Surkhsangov, President Rahmon took part in a ceremony of putting a 12-storey house, which was damaged as a result of the January earthquake, into operation.
“Following this ceremony, President Rahmon left for Jovud village to observe completion of construction of a new secondary school for 350 pupils. After the opening ceremony President is scheduled to meet with citizens in the administrative center of the region,” Pirov has said.
In the course of his visit to GBAO, President Rahmon is also scheduled to visit Darvaz region.
