Dushanbe. June 24. “Asia-Plus” — Break of Central Asia joint energy system affects all countries of the region and finally they will reunite again, Georgy Petrov, Head of the Hydro Energy Laboratory of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydroenergy and Ecology of the Tajik Academy of Sciences, told the AP.

However, such union should be based on market conditions, which means automatic refusal from administrative management system. “The first step has been already done. Former Dispatch Center of CA ECC has been transformed into the Consultation Council. Now it is time to establish market relations. Market will not settle all the existing problems since market is a good servant but a bad master. Thus, countries of the region should learn to manage the market,” Petrov has said.

He is confident that countries of the region should put aside all their emotions and define their interests. “We all have common interests. Not only Tajikistan is interested in the revival of this energy system, but all countries of the region. And there is no need to believe that someone will put pressure on other partners. There is a need to specify a range of interests and negotiate with each other and take into account each other’s arguments,” he said.

Petrov stressed that the united energy system of the region was created with the goal to unite the interests of all countries of the region. “Today these interests have changed. But I don’t think that they have crucially changed since we have common interests such as reliable energy supply,” he said, adding that power transmission lines were not destroyed but management system should be restored and developed.
