DUSHANBE, July 9, 2010, Asia-Plus — During the visit to Ayni district in Sughd province, President Emomali Rahmon yesterday attended a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the 220kV power transmission line, Khujand-Ayni, in the village of Iskodar, according to presidential press service.
The Khujand-Ayni power transmission line is 118 kilometers in length and it is expected to be finished by the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be marked on September 9, 2011. A total cost of this investment project is 130 million somoni and it is being implemented with help of specialists from China’s TBEA.
President Rahmon noted that the Khujand-Ayni power transmission line will connect Zarafshon Valley to the country’s unified power system through the 500kV South-North power grid.
We will recall that an agreement between Barqi Tojik and China’s TBEA on construction of the Khujand-Ayni power grid was signed on June 18, 2010 during President Rahmon’s visit to China.
