DUSHANBE, August 4, 2010, Asia-Plus — On Tuesday August 3, Asanali Karamaliyev, the deputy head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce (CCI), met here with Najibulla Rahimi, Trade Attaché, Afghan Embassy in Dushanbe.
According to the CCI press service, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Karamaliyev noted that Tajikistan’s CCI attached significance to expansion of trade and economic cooperation with business community of neighboring Afghanistan and holding of joint business forums and exhibitions was evidence of that. “The second international exhibition entitled “Economic Development of Afghanistan” is the result of our joint activity,” Tajik official said.
Afghan diplomat, for his part, expressed gratitude that Tajik CCI had invited not only Tajik entrepreneurs but also representatives of business communities from other countries and diplomatic missions active in Tajikistan to the recent exhibition and business forum. “This has given participants good opportunities for seeking cooperation partners,” Rahimi noted.
The sides noted that there was still considerable room for expansion of economic ties between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
According to the data from Tajik CCI, 36 Afghan companies now operate in different sectors of Tajikistan’s economy.
