DUSHANBE, September 15, 2010, Asia-Plus  — In 2010-2012, the government will allocate 4.51 billion somoni for construction of facilities that are funded from national budget, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT).

The source at a MEDT says that nearly 60 percent of this amount, or more than 2.7 billion somoni, will go to funding the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant.

The remainder will be distributed to health, educational, agrarian and transportation sectors as well as housing and communal services, culture, sports and water supply development.

Compared to 2010 the centralized capital investments will rise 26.9 percent in 2011 and 30.9 percent in 2012, the source added.

Priority is given to construction of productive facilities (industry, energy, agriculture and transportation) that provide continuous economic growth.

Over the report period, an overall space of 2.2704 million square meters in residential buildings, general educational schools to accommodate 47,699 pupils and hospitals with a total of 782 beds will be made available.  Besides, 83.9 kilometers of water pipelines, 41.5 kilometers of sewerage system and 17.3 kilometers of gas pipelines will be constructed in 2010-2012.
