DUSHANBE, September 15, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Tajikistan and Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) have signed a cooperation agreement.

According to the Tajik CCI press service, the document was inked here yesterday by Mr. Sharif Said, the head of Tajikistan’s CCI, and Mr. Ye Jin, the head of the Urumqi CCI.

In the course of the talks, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China.  They outlined natural resources, construction of roads and power plants, as well as agriculture and tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

The two also considered issues related to exchange of business information, holding of exhibitions and business forums in Dushanbe and Urumqi and establishment of the Business Council of CCIs of Tajikistan and XUAR.       

Mr. Ye proposed to organize a trade exhibition of producers from Urumqi in Tajikistan.  He also suggested an idea of the establishment of the union of CCIs of Asia’s countries, the CCI press service said.
