DUSHANBE, October 5, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Construction of the 220kV power transmission line, Khujand-Ayni, will start in late October, according to Barqi Tojik power holding (Tajik electricity supplier).

All necessary documentation has already been made ready and it remains to transfer funds for the beginning of the construction work, the source said.

According to him, China’s TBEA will construct the line and the project is expected to be finished in one an half years.  “A total cost of the project that is funded by China is some 37 million U.S. dollars,” the source added.

The Khujand-Ayni power transmission line, 118 kilometers in length, will connect Zarafshon Valley to the country’s unified power system through the 500kV South-North power grid.

We will recall that an agreement between Barqi Tojik and China’s TBEA on construction of the Khujand-Ayni power grid was signed on June 18, 2010 during President Rahmon’s visit to China.
