DUSHANBE, January 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — US$320.058 in investments have flowed into Tajikistan over the first nine months of 2010, Davlatali Saidov, which is US$159.1 million more than in 2009, the head of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 25.

According to him, this amount includes US$149.1 million in loans came from international financial institutions and US$171.48 million in foreign direct investment (FDI).

Saidov noted that Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran, the United Kingdom, China and Switzerland were the main investors in Tajikistan’s economy last year.

Abdusamad Rajabov, the head of the GosKomInvest investment department, says “In 2010, Iran was the largest investor in Tajikistan.” “Iran invested US$65.52 million in Tajikistan last year,” said Rajabov, “The Russian Federation invested US$33.3 million, Great Britain – US$30.9 million, China – US$25.9 million, Kazakhstan – US$6.9 million, and Switzerland – US$3.2 million.”

The GosKomInvest head says the state unitary enterprise, TajInvest, has been set up at GosKomInvest in order to promote increase in investment flows into the country.  “We are currently conducting negotiations on attraction of US$201 million for implementation of four investment projects in the country,” Davlatali Saidov said.

He added that 63 investment projects for a total amount of US$2.181 billion were currently being implemented in Tajikistan.
