DUSHANBE, February 9, 2011, Asia-Plus  — In January, two HIV sufferers died in the city of Kulob and Vose district, Amirkhon Ismoilov, head of the epidemiology department of Kulob Regional AIDS Center # 2, told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon.

“Both of them were injecting dug users (IDUs) and they died because they took medical advice too late,” Ismoilov said.

According to him, 20 new HIV infection cases were detected in the Kulob region last month.  “11 new cases were reported in the city and the district of Kulob, four cases in Hamadoni district, three cases in Danghara and two cases in Vose,” Ismoilov said, noting that four of the 20 newly registered HIV sufferers are women.
