KONIBODOM, February 10, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A job fair took place in Konibodom on February 9.

Anvar Mahkamov, head of the Konibodom agency for social care, employment and migration, said local enterprises and organizations participating at the fair offered 127 jobs.  “However, only 20 persons were placed in jobs at the fair,” Mahkamov said.

According to him, the majority of unemployed rejected job offers due to low wages and remoteness of places of jobs from their residence (for rural residents).

“In all, little more than 80 residents of Konibodom have been placed in jobs since the beginning of the year (in 2010, 604 people were placed in jobs in Konibodom),” said Mahkamov, “Besides, fifteen rural residents have been sent to take gardening courses.”

In the meantime, Ms. Oisha Bobokalonova, chairperson of the Konibodom center for adult education, says almost 100 local unemployed have taken various vocational training courses (basic computer skills, sewing, welding, and bookkeeping) at the center since the beginning of the year.  “This year, we plan to involve more than 800 unemployed in the vocational training courses,” she said.
