DUSHANBE, March 15, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first two months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of 1.553 billion somoni (equivalent to some 260 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-February 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 106.7 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 66.4 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over he same two-month period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 26.3 percent and mining industry accounted for 7.3 percent.  

Of the 78 basic types of industrial products the output of 35 items (44.9 percent) increased, and the output of 28 (35.9 percent) decreased.  18 basic types of industrial products (23.1 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced 414.8 million worth of goods in January-February this year, which is 20.8 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced 200.8 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 1.7 percent more than in January-February 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 206 million somoni worth of goods over the same two-month period, which is 3.1 percent more than in January-February 2010.
