DUSHANBE, April 7, 2011, Asia-Plus — A meeting of representatives of Tajikistan’s business community with representatives of foreign companies has been held in Dushanbe on sideline of the 2nd International Exhibition in Dushanbe.

The meeting has brought together representatives of more than 100 companies from 20 countries of the world, senior representatives of Tajik relevant ministries and organizations as well as representatives of a number of diplomatic missions accredited in Tajikistan.

Deputy head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Asanali Karamaliyev, said that the main objective of the meeting was to create platform for discussion of cooperation issues between potential partners.

Bahman Qadiri, representative of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that the meeting promoted strengthening of trade and economic cooperation between the countries of the region.  He also called on the Tajik authorities to reduce a number of customs procedures in order to create proper conditions for foreign entrepreneurs in the country.

In the meantime, the 2nd International Exhibition that opened in the Tajik capital on April 6 will conclude tomorrow.

Twenty countries of the world, including Afghanistan Belarus, China, Germany, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Unite Kingdom and some other countries, are participating at the exhibition, organized by the Central-Asian International Exhibition Company (Expo Central Asia) in cooperation with Tajik CCI.

More than 150 companies from Tajikistan and the abovementioned countries have put on display their achievements in building materials production, food and light industries, packaging, furniture production, cosmetics, medical equipment production, and engineering industry at the fair.

The 1st International Industrial and Trade Exhibition took place in Dushanbe on March 16-18, 2010 year and more that 400 entrepreneurs took part at the business forum that was held on sidelines of the first exhibition.  More than 5,000 people visited the 1st International Industrial and Trade Exhibition.
