DUSHANBE, June 8, 2011, Asia-Plus — Issues related to cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan were discussed at a meeting of Minister of Culture Mirzoshorukh Asrori with Japan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Yoshihiro Nakayama that took place here on June 7, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC).

The source at a MoC says the issue of cultural and historical heritage was the focus of the meeting.  Touching upon the issue of preservation of cultural heritage, the sides reportedly discussed joint training of specialists in that area.

Mr. Asrori expressed gratitude to Mr. Nakayama for support of the Government of Japan for renovation of buildings of the Opera and Ballet Theater and Tajikistan’s National Conservatory in Dushanbe.

Mr. Nakayama, for his part, expressed readiness for further cooperation in the field of culture.  Japanese diplomat noted that the Mir Said Ali Hamadoni mausoleum in Kulob would be restored under an agreement that was signed between Tajik MFA and Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe recently.
