DUSHANBE, June 10, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Tajikistan and the Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia in cooperation with Bureau on Human Rights and Rule of Law (BHR) and Independent Center for the Protection of Human Rights today organized the roundtable “The Right to Adequate Housing: Problems And Prospects In Tajikistan.”

According to the EU Delegation, the purpose of the event is to exchange information about international standards of adequate housing and activities of UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, as well as to discuss the new draft Housing Code of the Republic of Tajikistan and the strategy of housing policy in Tajikistan.

The roundtable has reportedly brought together representatives from national and local government, judiciary, civil society, and international community, including experts based at the headquarters of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.
