DUSHANBE, June 14, 2011, Asia-Plus – Emomali Rahmon has departed to Kazakhstan’s capital to take part in the jubilee session of the Council of Heads of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which opens today in Astana.

According to the President’s press service, Tajik President is accompanied by Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi, President’s Aide for Foreign Affairs Erkin Rahmatulloev, Tajik Minister of Finance Safarali Najmiddinov, Minister of Economy and Trade Farukh Hamraliev, Head of the Tajik State Property Committee Davlatali Saidov and the Director of the Drug Control Agency Rustam Nazarov.

Tajik President is scheduled to meet with the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and Vice President of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency Kieshi Kodera, the official source in the Tajik Government told the AP.

In the course of his official visit to Astana President Rahmon will also meet with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev.

According to the Kazakh media, the jubilee session of the SCO Summit will be dedicated to the analysis of the results of SCO’s activity in the past decade and prospects of further development.

Additionally, Summit participants will discuss a wide range of issues linked to the current global and regional situation.

The participants are also expected to sign the Astana Declaration of the 10th anniversary of SCO.

Kazakhstan will also hand over SCO chairmanship to China.
