DUSHANBE, September 1, 2011 Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has sharply criticized “poor implementation of scientific researches,” the presidential press service reports.

His criticism, directed at Tajik researchers, came during an address to a meeting with Tajik students.

A traditional meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with students dedicated to the Day of Knowledge took place at Tajik Technological University in Dushanbe on September 1.

In his address, President Emomali Rahmon noted that swift changes taking place in the modern world forced the Tajik authorities to carry out serious reforms in the education sector and to strengthen material and technical basis of the educational facilities.  Rahmon ordered universities to cooperate with relevant structures in establishing technological ad innovative centers.

On the training of scientific personnel in Tajikistan, the head of state noted that local scientists paid attention to the thesis defense issues rather then to implementation of their scientific researches, the source said.
