KULOB, September 5, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is currently on an official visit to Tajikistan, today morning visited the tomb of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani in the Tajik southern city of Kulob.  

Mir Sayyid Ali bin Shahab-ud-Din Hamadani was a Persian Sufi, a poet and a prominent Muslim scholar of the 14th century.  He was born in Hamadan, Iran in 1314 and died in 1384 in Kunar and was buried in Kulob.

Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani was very influential in spreading Islam in Kashmir and has had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir Valley.  He was also known as “Shah Hamadhan” (“King of Hamadhan”, Iran) and as Amir-i Kabir (“the Great Commander”). Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani wrote several short works on spirituality and Sufism.
