DUSHANBE, SEPTEMBER 6, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A ceremony of an official opening of a stela commemorating police officers killed in the line of duty was held in Dushanbe today morning.  The stela is established in the compound of the Ministry of Interior.

Speaking at the stela-opening ceremony, Minister of Interiors Abdurahim Qahhorov noted that the stela had been established due to donations made by the Interior Ministry officers.

“We remember each of 1,760 police officers who were killed in the line of duty through the years of independence,” the minister said.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, veterans of the Interior Ministry and families of police officers who died in the line of duty.
