DUSHANBE, September 17, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first eight months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 4.3 billion somoni (equivalent to some 915 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-August 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 103.9 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 63.7 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the same eight-month period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 23.4 percent and mining industry accounted for 12.9 percent.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than 1.8 billion somoni worth of goods in January-August this year, which is 18.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced 244.5 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 3.2 percent more than in January-August 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 840 million somoni worth of goods over the same eight-month period, which is 10.6 percent more than in January-August 2010.
