DUSHANBE, September 26, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Thee U.S. dollar (USD) fell considerably against the Tajik national currency, the somoni, last week.

USD fell 2.08 percent against the somoni — from 1:4.90 on September 20 to 1:4.80 on September 24.  Last Saturday, some currency exchange offices in Dushanbe were even buying U.S. dollars at 1:4.73 or even 1:4.60.

Meanwhile, currency exchange offices in Dushanbe say they are currently experiencing shortage of the national currency, the somoni.

The exchange rates of the euro and the Russian rubble (RR) against the somoni have also changed over the last week.  The exchange rate of € against the somoni fell from 1:6.65 on September 20 to 1:6.61 on September 24.  The exchange rate of RR against the somoni fell last week from 100:15.10 to 100:14.40.
