KULOB, September 30, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Danghara and Kulob districts have overfulfilled their cotton targets and are continuing to gather cotton in addition to their obligations, the Kulob agriculture department reports.

Cotton growers of Danghara district have reportedly ielded 4,673 kilograms of cotton to date, which is 23 tons more than it was originally planned.

Kulob district has pledged to produce 7,952 tons of raw cotton this year.  The Kulob cotton growers have gathered 8,141 tons of cotton by September 30, Ayub Qurbonov, a leading specialist with the Kulob agriculture department, said.

According to him, 32,251 hectares have been allocated in five cotton producing districts of Khatlon’s Kulob region to cotton cultivation this year and local cotton growers are expected to yield 62,850 tons of raw cotton.
