DUSHANBE, October 3, 2011, Asia-Plus — The third session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the fourth convocation began its work today.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov has offered to announce the third session “the session of adoption of qualitative laws.”

Addressing today’s sitting, Zuhurov noted that the parliament will pay a special attention to raising requirements for the adopted laws and bringing them into compliance with international standards.

According to him, more than 40 draft laws are currently under consideration.  The speaker noted that parliamentarians must pay a special attention to adoption of laws concerning enhancement of energy and financial sectors as well as tax collection system.

In all, 16 issues have been tabled to the sitting’s agenda, including amendments to the country’s laws on the national budget for 2011, advertisement and police as well as ratification of a number of government-to-government agreements.
