DUSHANBE, October 18, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 5 billion somoni (equivalent to more than one billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-September 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 105.5 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 64.7 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the same nine-month period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 22 percent and mining industry accounted for 13.3 percent.

Of the 83 basic types of industrial products the output of 48 items (57.8 percent) increased, and the output of 32 items (38.6 percent) decreased.  Three basic types of industrial products (3.6 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than two billion somoni worth of goods in January-September this year, which is 19.3 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced 425 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 14.4 percent more than in January-September 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced some 945 million somoni worth of goods over the same nine-month period, which is 11.5 percent more than in January-September 2010.
