DUSHANBE, December 11, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Safarali Rajabov and Amir Katayev met with Gary McMahon, Senior Mining Specialist, World Bank, and experts from Adam Smith International on December 9, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said.

According to him, Tajik parliamentarians highly appraised the level of cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the World Bank on development of Tajikistan’s economy and asked to provide assistance with extraction of oil and natural gas in Tajikistan.

Representatives of the Word Bank and Adam Smith International reportedly hailed achievements gained by Tajikistan on development of its economy and stressed that those achievements gave hope to potential investors.

“They noted that the request of Tajik parliamentarians will be included in the perspective plan of work of their representative offices in Tajikistan,” Sultonov said.
