DUSHANBE, January 16, 2012, Asia-Plus  — In 2011, Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7.4 percent, reaching more than 30 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 6.3 billion U.S. dollars), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

GDP structure by sources of income reportedly included: agriculture, forestry, hunting and finishing – 23.8 percent; trade, repairs to vehicles, home appliances, consumer goods, hotels and restaurants – 16.7 percent; transportation, communications and warehousing – 14.3 percent; taxes – 11 percent; construction – 7.7 percent; education – 4.5 percent; public management and the compulsory social insurance – 3.8 percent; providing public, social and personal services – 2.8 percent; health care – 2.2 percent; financial activity and real estate and leasing operations – 0.4 percent.   

We will recall that the country’s GDP for 2010 was more than 24.704 billion somoni (more than US$5.6 billion at the exchange rate for early January 2011).
