DUSHANBE, January 17, 2012, Asia-Plus  — A joint operation by officers from the Interior Ministry transportation police department and the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has led to the arrest of a drug peddler in Dushanbe.

An official source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says a 31-year-old H.M. was detained in Dushanbe yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.  A package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 1.830 kilograms was confiscated from him.

“Several days earlier, the detainee sold 3.982 kilograms of hashish to an undercover police officer who posed as a drug buyer,” the source said.

Thus, a total amount of narcotics seized in this operation is 5.722 kilograms.

Besides, a 19-yer-old D.O. was detained at the Khujand airport on the same day.  D.O. attempted to travel to Russia with drugs in his stomach.  He had ingested several wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 635 grams, the source said.
