DUSHANBE, January 23, 2012, Asia-Plus – The Dushanbe airport director general Rustam Kholiqov told reporters on January 23 that Dushanbe International Airport and Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) plan to sign an agreement in the near future, under which Tajik labor migrants will be able to get migration cards straight at the Dushanbe airport before departure.
“Currently, migration cards are issued at the airport of entry,” Kholiqov said, noting that the system will be introduced into operation in the near future.
“During the registration process at the Dushanbe airport, a passenger’s passport details will be automatically sent to Russia and we will receive reply from Russia whether this person is permitted to enter Russia or not,” the airport director noted.
Migration card is an identity document for foreign nationals. The card is usually issued in two identical parts, of which part A is surrendered to the immigration officer upon entrance to Russia, while part B, stamped by the officer, must be kept with the passport to be presented to the officials whenever the identity check is demanded. A migration card must be produced along with passport in order to register a foreign citizen.
