DUSHANBE, February 6, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The cold weather has made high schools closed in Tajikistan.

Siddiq Muborak, a spokesman for the Ministry of Education (MoE), told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon that high schools across the country will be closed for three days, February 7-9, due to the cold weather.

“We cannot temporarily close down kindergartens because in many families both parents work,” said Muborak.  “Besides, all kindergartens are provided with heat.”

Tajikistan is expected to continue to be exposed to cold weather in the next few days.  In mountain areas, temperatures will fluctuate from -15ºC to -20ºC and in the eastern part of Gorno Badakhshan night temperatures are expected to drop to -30ºC.
