DUSHANBE, February 21, 2012, Asia-Plus — Within the EU-funded program “Investing in People,” CESVI, is implementing a project “Strengthening the Musical Culture in Central Asia through Regional Cooperation, Integration and International Networking,” press release issued by the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan reports.

In the framework of this project, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan and CESVI are organizing the Inception Workshop of the Project with the objective to present the methodology, strategy and contents of the action to the main stakeholders in Tajikistan: relevant authorities and cultural departments, main Embassies Cultural Attachés and Cultural Institutions.  The event is taking place at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Culture today.

The project started on February 1, 2012 and will be completed by January 31, 2014.  The specific Project objective is to contribute to the development and promotion of traditional and classical music in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan by strengthening regional cooperation, integration and European networking.

The EU contribution for the Project is 398.000 euros.

The activities of the Project will be implemented in partnership with the Art School for Children “M. Aminzoda”, one of the most prominent music school for young artists in Tajikistan, the Republican Pre Professional Musical Boarding School “M. Abraev”, the national school for preparing symphonic and folk orchestras for young musicians in Kyrgyzstan and the State Institution “Complex Musical College – Music School for talented children” which is one of the most prominent music schools for young musicians in Kazakhstan; and in collaboration of the Ministries of Culture and Education of the three mentioned countries.

CESVI (Cooperation and Development) is an independent Italian foundation established in 1985, working for global solidarity and cooperation between countries, and present in Tajikistan since 2001, working mainly in water and sanitation and rural development programs.
