KHUJAND, February 23, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Two new oil-refining enterprises are expected to be introduced into operation in the northern Sughd province this year, bringing the total number of oil-refining enterprises in the area to three.

At present there is still only one oil-refining enterprise in northern Tajikistan – Shohon.  Located in the city of Konibodom, Shohon last year produced 292 tons of gasoline, 1,750 tons of diesel oil and 5,250 tons of fuel oil.  The enterprise is now not in operation

According to the Sughd department for energy and industries, one of the new oil-refining enterprises will be built by owners of Shohon and the other one will be built by entrepreneurs from the Bobojonghafurov district.

Refinery being built in the Bobojonghafurov district will be a small enterprise with capacity of producing up to two tons of gasoline per day, the source said.
