Kulob celebrated the 74th anniversary of the most popular Soviet poet of the republic Ashur Safar.

2nd Ashur Safar Award ceremony was held in the Ashur Safar park, Kulob Mayor Abdugaffor Rahmonov told AP. The 2000 Somoni award was handed to a poetess Hosiyat Valizade who wrote new poems and worked hard with the youth in the past year.

At the same time, on May 1 citizens of Kulob took part in the city cleaning campaign together with deputy of Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Amirhon Safarov who arrived from Dushanbe to meet with his voters.

Kulob Mayor Rahmonov said that the campaign was not completed on Saturday due to heavy rainfalls. However, at least 10.000 people took part in the cleaning campaign on Tuesday.
