Two new museums – local history museum in Shaidon village of Sari-Hissor Jamoat and museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union Saidqul Turdyev in central region – opened their doors in Baljuvan region, which was announced as the international tourism zone.

In his interview to AP deputy head of the Khatlon province’s Department of Culture Hairullo Tohirov said that 400.000 Somoni were allocated from the local budget for the construction of these two museums.

He said that museum in Shaidon village is expected to become one of the most popular places in the country as soon as the region becomes popular among foreign tourists.

“From historical point of view the region is invaluable since the first settlement appeared here 800.000 years ago and archeological items of those times have already appeared in the museum,” he said, adding that there is still a lot to be done to prepare storage facilities and exhibition halls.

At the same time Tohirov said that Tajik Ministry of Culture funds rehabilitation of Buhara emir governor’s Palace in Baljuvan village.

Currently, there are a total of 15 museums in Kulob area, including two public libraries – Ashur Safar library in Kulob city and Sokhib Tabarov library in Muminobod region.
