Wheat harvest in two districts of Kulob region complete by July 18

KULOB, July 18, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Wheat crops in the districts of Farkhor and Hamadoni in Khatlon’s Kulob region have been harvested by July 18.

Rajabali Kulabekov, a chief agronomist with the Kulob agriculture department, told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon that farmers in Farkhor and Hamadoni have yielded some 53,000 tons of wheat from 16,712 hectares.  According to him, average wheat yields have stood at 3.15 tons per hectare.

In all, 83,414 hectares have been allotted to wheat cultivation in the Kulob region this year and local farmers have yielded some 183,000 tons of wheat from 62,000 hectares to date.  Average wheat yields have been 3.1 tons per hectare.

Kulabekov is sure that the Kulob region will overfulfill its annual target, which has been determined at 196,177 tons of wheat.
