DUSHANBE, August 24, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday August 23, Tajik-Turkmen negotiations in the enlarged format in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan resulted in signing of seven bilateral cooperation documents, the Tajik president’s official website reports.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a joint statement, which expresses readiness of the two countries to further develop bilateral relations.

The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) and Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Finance signed an agreement on fighting money laundering and terrorist financing, Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan signed a cooperation agreement and the Academies of Sciences of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan signed an agreement on cooperation.

Besides, the two countries signed a program of cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs designed for 2013-2014 and an intergovernmental program on cultural cooperation for the coming two years.

Tajikistan and Turkmenistan also signed an agreement on mutual allotment of land to build their embassies.

Leaders of the two countries told reporters that they were satisfied with the results of the bilateral meeting and the negotiations and pointed to the necessity of efficient use of existing potential for expansion of bilateral cooperation between their countries.

Rahmon and Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit would give a new impulse to further development of friendly relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, the source said.
