DUSHANBE, August 28, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The organization of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the northern Sughd province has organized a series of rallies across the province to support peace and accord in the country, Usmon Solehov, the head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus in an interview Tuesday evening.

According to him, the demonstration that took place in the city of Panjakent on August 27 brought together more than 10,000 people.

“Speaking at the rally, PDP deputy leader Asror Latipov, veterans and activists of the part expressed concern over the current situation in Khorog and condemned actions of some groups that do not want stability in Tajikistan,” Solehov said, noting that similar rallies were carried out in all cities and districts of the province.

Besides, PDP’s organization for Sughd has organized travel of soldiers’ mothers to the districts subordinate to the center (RRP).  During this ravel, they have familiarized themselves with conditions of service for their sons, Solehov added.

The People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan was founded in 1993.  Its chairman is President Emomali Rahmon.  The party controls some 70 percent of seats in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament.  It is the largest party, boasting more than 160,000 registered members.  The official newspaper of the party is
