DUSHANBE, August 30, 2012, Asia-Plus – A second meeting of the Public Council at the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe yesterday.

The Migration Service press center reports the meeting considered the current labor migration situation and discussed problems existing in the labor migration sphere.

The meeting, in particular, considered and endorsed the plan of actions for the second half-year of 2012 and establishment of the sector for work with female migrants at Tajik public associations (Tajik diasporas) in the Russian Federation.

Besides, the meeting participants discussed issues related to the holding of the 8th session of the Russian-Tajik Working Group (WG) for implementation of the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on labor migration in Dushanbe in November this year.      

The Public Council members reportedly include representatives from relevant ministries and agencies of Tajikistan, local public associations and international organizations active in the country, research instituted and the Federal Migration Service of Russia (FMS)’s office in Tajikistan, as well as representatives of ethnic communities.

The Public Council is an advisory and consultative body at the Migration Service functioning on a voluntary basis.  It coordinates activities of government organizations, public associations and research institutes dealing with migration issues.
