DUSHANBE, September 3, 212, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in the southern Khatlon province have reportedly seized a large amount of raw opium.

An operation carried out by the drug control officers in the city of Kulob on September 2 led to the arrest of alleged drug pusher.

When searching his Mercedes-Benz, the drug control officers found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing more than 10 kilograms, the source said.  The found opium reportedly belonged to the passenger – a 49-year-old resident of the Shouroobod district.  He had previous conviction for drug pushing and served a 12-year term in penal colony.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained rug pusher and an investigation is under way.
